If you'd like to begin a relationship with God for yourself, click on the video to see how. The abundant life you were created for begins with a relationship with your Creator. God bless you as you begin ThisNewLife with Him!
If you just prayed to ask God to forgive you of your sins, I just want to be the first to congratulate you!! A relationship with God has been the greatest thing that has ever happened to me and I pray that it is the greatest thing to happen to you as well. Below I've included several very practical steps for you to take to develop your new relationship with God as well as some links to some online churches to help you grow in your faith. May God richly bless you as you continue to grow in your relationship with Him in ThisNewLife. Thanks for stopping by!

"I've asked for forgiveness and prayed...now what?"

This is one of the most common questions asked. Here are a couple of things to know:

1. When you ask God to forgive you and you believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins, You. Are. Forgiven. Completely. The Bible says, "As far as the East is from the West so I have separated you from your transgressions." You are forgiven. You can now know that you are going to Heaven when you die. Isn't that amazing!?! This is because we get to Heaven not on our own good works, but on the work of Jesus Christ. It is only because of Him that we will ever have the forgiveness we need to enter into those pearly gates of Heaven. All we can do is receive Christ and give God thanks!

2. You now have a relationship with God. By asking for forgiveness and believing in Christ, God becomes your Almighty Father and Best Friend because the sin that previously separated you has been forgiven and removed. Go to Him every moment of every day in prayer. Invite Him into your situations, struggles, and triumphs. Pray. God is listening and loves to provide for you. His love for you is unconditional and He will never leave you nor forsake you. He is the most faithful friend you will ever have.

3. Buy a Bible that you can understand. There are many translations you can choose from, but I would recommend you to purchase a Bible with the words of Christ in red letters. Start in the New Testament and read through the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to get a better understanding of who Jesus is and what He did for you by dying on that cross. I encourage you to read the Bible every day. You can also check out the book of Proverbs for practical wisdom for everyday living.

4. Get connected with a local church. Try and find a church that teaches the Bible and encourages you in your relationship with God. Don't go to a place where everyone is grumpy and unenthusiastic. Seriously, it's contagious! Go to a place that is friendly, accepting of you, encourages you in your faith, and teaches the Bible. Also see below for some great online churches to check out:

5. Finally, try to find a mentor who can help you grow in your relationship with God. This person must be someone you trust and who has a true relationship with God for themselves. They can help answer a lot of your questions. If any of your friends or family members are Christians, you might want to ask them to get together once a week to help you grow in your newfound faith.

I just want to congratulate you again on your newfound relationship with God! It is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me and I know that it will be the greatest thing that will ever happen to you as well.
